Founded in 1970 to stimulate foreign trade, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) is the foremost non-profit trade promotion organization in the Republic of China (R.O.C. on Taiwan). TAITRA is jointly sponsored by government, commerce and industry to assist Taiwan’s businesses and manufacturers strengthen their international competitiveness and tackle the challenges they face in foreign markets. In addition, TAITRA undertakes initiatives to help foreign businesses establish a wider presence in Taiwan. Since its establishment, TAITRA has developed a well-coordinated trade promotion and information network. It has a staff of over 600 trained specialists stationed at its headquarters in Taipei, in five local branch offices in Taoyuan,Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung, and in over 63 overseas branch offices worldwide. In association with its sister organizations, the Taiwan Trade Center, Inc (TTC) and the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC), TAITRA constantly adapts its trade promotion strategies to changing international conditions. Its major functions include: Market Development, Strategic Marketing, Trade Information Services, Exhibitions, Convention Services, Trade Education and Taiwantrade, an e-Trading Hub service.
Green Environmental Protection Measures of TaiNEX 1
TaiNEX 1 has actively worked to preserve the natural environment, and became the first exhibition hall in Taiwan to obtain the Green Building Label, as well as to complete greenhouse gas verification in accordance with international standards. From controlling carbon emissions of the Exhibition Hall to eco-friendly operations and several other environmental protection measures, TaiNEX 1 supports the government's energy-saving and carbon reduction policies with concrete actions, and hope to create a sustainable environment alongside industries and visitors.
TaiNEX 1 has fulfilled all seven indicators, including site greenification, water conservation, daily energy-saving, carbon dioxide reduction, indoor environment, water resources, and sewage and waste improvement, and was granted a Green Building Label by the Ministry of Interior.
TaiNEX 1 completed the verification of greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with international standards in 2009 and 2011, and was certified by the British Standards Institution (BSI) according to ISO 14064-1 – Greenhouse gases.
Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 2 (TaiNEX 2), a new venue funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and operated by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). It offers 156,700 sqm floor space to accommodate 32,000 visitors for exhibitions, conferences, business meetings and events. Combined with the spaces already available in Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1, the total capacity holds more than 5,000 booths and 38 meeting rooms. These two exhibition centers are expected to become the core venues of Taiwan's MICE industry, as well as one of the major convention and exhibition centers in Asia.
